What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a research study that tests new treatments, medications, or medical devices to see if they are safe and effective. By participating, you help advance medical science while potentially gaining access to promising new therapies before they are widely available.

Is there any cost to participate?

No. Study-related visits, tests, and investigational medications are provided at no cost to you. You may also receive compensation for your time and travel expenses, depending on the study.

How do I know if I qualify for a study?

Complete our brief online screening questionnaire for the study you are interested in. Based on your answers, our team will contact you to discuss next steps and schedule a screening visit at our Bellevue clinic.

Is my information kept private?

Yes. Your privacy is protected by federal HIPAA regulations and strict research protocols. Personal health information is kept confidential and is only shared with authorized research staff directly involved in your care.

Can I continue seeing my regular doctor?

Absolutely. Participating in a clinical trial does not replace your regular medical care. We work closely with your primary care physician or specialist to coordinate your overall treatment.

What if I change my mind after enrolling?

Participation is completely voluntary. You may withdraw from a study at any time, for any reason, without penalty or impact on your regular medical care.

What conditions are you currently studying?

We are actively recruiting for studies in gout, polymyalgia rheumatica, psoriatic arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Visit our Studies page to see all available trials.

How long does a clinical trial last?

Study length varies depending on the trial. Some last a few months, while others may continue for a year or more. The specific time commitment will be explained before you enroll.

Where are study visits held?

All study visits take place at Lakeside Research, located within Overlake Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center at 2100 116th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004.
